Welcome to our Tips Section. Here are some helpful tips to think about before you come out for a Grand River Experience.

 

What type of clothing should I wear for a river trip?

  Clothing should be suitable for the weather of the day. Always bring a spare change of clothing. Hats, sunglasses, and SHOES YOU CAN GET WET IN for the summer trips. WE DISCOURAGE WEARING SANDLES OR BEACH SHOES! Dry Bags are available to keep dry anything you do not want to get wet.
 

What if I forget something?

  We carry a selection of insect repellant, sun screen, eye glass straps,etc. in each vehicle for purchase. Soft drinks can be purchased at the park concession stand. Snack food provides energy for a day of paddling. We also provide extra seats for a third passenger in the canoe.
 

Pet Friendly

  We are a Pet Friendly livery! Just give us a call and we will schedule your trip for you and your pet. Leash Laws enforced in public parks along river.
 

Do we need reservations?

  There are days and times when our capacity to transport customers may be filled. If you give us a call first we can schedule your trip so that you can avoid these times and dates. We give first priority to our customers who make reservations. All others are on a first come first serve basis.
 

Wineries and Geneva on the Lake

  There are nine major wineries within 6 miles of our service. Most serve meals on weekends. Some serves meals all week. Geneva on the Lake provides food and entertainment for the whole family and is just 6 miles north of the livery.
 

Other Ativities for your family to enjoy in the area!

  You and your family may also enjoy: Birdwatching, Roller Skating, Geneva on the Lake, Biking and Bike Routes and Trails, Swimming, Camping, Hiking, Train Ride, Covered Bridge Tour, Fishing, or other available activities. Just give us a call for details.
 

What is included in the rental fee?

  The boat, paddles, Pfd's for all passengers, litter bags, river map, safety paddling demo. with safety tips for your trip, shuttle service. Additional costs include third or fourth rental seats, Dry Bags to keep your belongings dry.
 

All participants MUST complete a risk form.

  The risk form is on our top tabs. This can be printed off the website and completed before you arrive. Just hand the completed forms to our dirvers and save time by having the majority of the paperwork complete before you arrive.
 

Do you have an alcohol policy?

  Yes, a three beer policy is in effect for all legal age participants. Coolers are subject to inspection before loading into the canoes, kayaks, or vans.
 

Can we bring coolers on the trip?

  Yes, ONLY SOFT COOLERS will be allowed in our vans. If the cooler can fit on your lap, you can bring it.
 

Are there campgrounds in the area?

  Yes, there are five campgrounds with in ten minutes of our location. Check the link below for information on camping, wineries, shopping, and othere areas on entertainment.

How can we help protect the Grand River?

  Work with Raccoon Run Canoe Rental and the Cleveland Musuem of Natural History to protect the watershed. Rent a canoe or Kayak with us and we make a donation to the Cleveland Museum of Natural Hisotry. You can also help by joining Western Reserve Land Conservancy.
